OUR MISSION AND HISTORY
For more than 65 years, The Arc of North Dakota has been a strong voice for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. Incorporated in 1958, we are a statewide nonprofit organization committed to promoting and protecting the human rights of individuals with IDD.

Our mission is to ensure that every person with a disability has the opportunity to live, learn, work, and thrive as an active member of their community. We advocate for access to services and supports, champion inclusive policies, and provide resources that empower individuals and families to make informed choices.

A core part of our work happens at the North Dakota Legislature, where we educate lawmakers, testify on bills, and collaborate with partners to influence policies that directly impact people with disabilities. From protecting vital programs like Medicaid and SNAP to advancing supported decision-making and inclusive education, we make sure the voices of people with IDD and their families are heard in every policy conversation.

The Arc of North Dakota is part of a nationwide movement of chapters working together to build a future where people with disabilities are respected, valued, and included. While each local chapter operates independently, we are united in our advocacy efforts and share a common goal of advancing equity and inclusion across our state.

With decades of experience in grassroots advocacy, public policy, and community partnerships, The Arc of North Dakota remains a trusted leader—driven by the voices of its members, guided by its values, and dedicated to creating meaningful change.
